10 NATO soldiers killed in single day in Afghanistan
Ten NATO soldiers including at least one American were killed in a string of attacks in Afghanistan on Monday, one of the heaviest tolls suffered by the alliance in a single day.

Of the total toll, confirmed to AFP by an alliance spokesman, five soldiers were killed by an improvised explosive device (IED) in eastern Afghanistan, one as a result of gunfire also in the east and another by an IED in the south.
Earlier in the day the alliance announced the deaths of two other soldiers in a bomb attack and of one American soldier in a shooting.
Separately, two foreign contractors, one of them an American, were killed Monday in a suicide attack on an Afghan police training centre in the southern city of Kandahar, the US embassy said.
